A sign of the Times

Yesterday, the conservative Christian influencer, Charlie Kirk, was assassinated at an event at a University in Utah. One might not have agreed with Charlie Kirk's politics, but you cannot deny that this was a cowardly act, which was probably done because of hatred for him and his views.

This is not just an isolated event that happened. This is a sign for those who are spiritually discerning. First of all, this is a sign of how sinister and sick society has become.

America specifically is sick at the heart; both Charlie's assassination and the senseless murder of Iryna Zarutska in Charlotte are testimony to this.

The fact that the fellow commuters of Iryna did not only failed to stop her assailant from leaving the train but also left her there to bleed out tells you that America has lost its soul. The same applies to all the people on social media celebrating the killing of Charlie Kirk because they despised his political views and disagreed with his religious convictions. America is in deep darkness, and it has lost its heart and soul.

Sadly, America is not alone in this; the increase of wickedness as prophesied by Jesus in Matthew 24 has caused the love of many to grow cold. The increase of wickedness and deception are both signs of the end times that Jesus prophesied; this can be seen happening all over the world. Nobody can deny that we live in a time of gross darkness (wickedness and deception), and it is only going to get worse for those who do not know Christ.

The killing of Charlie Kirk is not just tragic, but it's a sign of the times that we live in. It's also a sign of a new season we are entering as the Church. This scripture is key for this season: “At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were foolish, and five were wise. The foolish ones took their lamps but did not take along any extra oil. But the wise ones took oil in flasks along with their lamps. When the bridegroom was delayed, they all became drowsy and fell asleep. At midnight the cry rang out: ‘Here is the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!’” Matthew 25:1-6

It’s the season of one calling to the wise and foolish virgins…Here’s the Bridegroom! It's the season of spiritual awakening in the church. Some will be wise and some will be foolish.

The wise virgins are those who will have enough oil (anointing) to keep their lamps burning. Those who will awaken and come out of Babylon (religious institutions) and turn to Him (intimate relationship with Him). The foolish virgins are also believers, but they will cling to the old systems and traditions that are dead because of fear…fear of man and being cancelled. This is a call to be radical in our faith and devotion to the LORD! (Those who are wise will do well to study MT 25:1-13).

I, for one, did not agree with Charlie's political stance; in my view, politics belongs to the domain of the tree of knowledge, it is of no consequence to the kingdom, and it has no eternal value.

That being said, I can affirm that Charlie was a man of faith, and he died as a martyr. This is also a sign to the church! Persecution and martyrdom are foreign to the Western Church that has been lulled to sleep by its addiction to comfort and the gospel of peace, security, and prosperity. But the LORD is warning us that persecution and even martyrdom are coming to the Western Church.

We have entered the season of the voice of one crying at midnight: "Look, the Bridegroom is coming! Come out and meet Him!"

Will you listen, wake up, and be wise?
