Friends, this is a continuation of Spiritual growth.

I was having a deep conversation with my son, Jordan, about growing spiritually. I thought I was the one teaching him — but soon realized Jesus was the one teaching me even more through our time together.

This is how my living water is given to drink...

He then gave me these scriptures:

Do not let sin control the way you live; do not give in to sinful desires. Do not let any part of your body become an instrument of evil to serve sin. Instead, give yourselves completely to God, for you were dead, but now you have new life. So use your whole body as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of God. Sin is no longer your master, for you no longer live under the requirements of the law. Instead, you live under the freedom of God’s grace.

Romans 6:12–14

You died to the power of the law when you died with Christ. And now you are united with the one who was raised from the dead. As a result, we can produce a harvest of good deeds for God. When we were controlled by our old nature, sinful desires were at work within us, and the law aroused these evil desires that produced a harvest of sinful deeds, resulting in death. But now we have been released from the law, for we died to it and are no longer captive to its power. Now we can serve God, not in the old way of obeying the letter of the law, but in the new way of living in the Spirit.

Romans 7:4–6

He continued to say

...as you drink my living water, you will grow with the fruits I give you.

We are chosen for more — to live in a different way.Does that mean we can’t enjoy time with friends at a party or a braai? Of course not. It simply means we are called to live in holiness wherever we are. To grow spiritually, we need to spend more time with Jesus — to eat of His fruits and drink of His living water.

Eating His fruits means becoming more like Him.

Drinking His living water means living in the new way — in the Spirit.

The Light shines in the darkness. The darkness has never been able to put out the Light.
