The oil does not dry:

Of late, I have been running to lose weight and to be a fit daddy for my kids. For the past few weeks, I’ve been running the same route—a 1.6 km loop around the block. There’s a steep incline halfway through that passes Eagle Canyon Golf Estate here in South Africa.

The incline has a single walking path, worn bare with no grass because so many people use it. For weeks, as I ran this route, I noticed a puddle of “water” on the path. I thought it would eventually dry up, but weeks went by, and it was still there.

One morning, while running, I saw the puddle again and thought to myself, This is most definitely oil. As soon as I thought that, I heard the Holy Spirit speak to me in a gentle voice:

“The oil does not dry. The anointed oil placed on my children does not dry up.”

I could barely finish my run, but I pushed through. When I got home, the Lord began to explain it to me, and I believe others need to understand this as well:

If Jesus Christ has anointed you with His oil, the Holy Spirit, it will never dry up. The Holy Spirit will always be with you.

The world is noisy and full of distractions. I was one of those caught up in the world after receiving God’s Spirit. I spent too much time on social media and consumed myself with mainstream entertainment. As some Christians say, I “backslid” and drifted away from God.

But here’s the truth: He never turned away from me. He was always speaking—I just wasn’t listening.

It’s an illusion the enemy wants all Christians to believe:

·       “God has turned His back on you.”

·       “He doesn’t answer your prayers.”

·       “He doesn’t care about you.”

But Jesus Christ loves you.

Let that sink in—He loves you so much that even if you’ve sinned and done unspeakable things, He still loves you. You can’t surprise Him; He already knows everything. And He is always with you.

Remain in Him.

1 John 2:26-27:I am writing these things to you about those who are trying to lead you astray. As for you, the anointing you received from Him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as His anointing teaches you about all things, and as that anointing is real—not counterfeit—just as it has taught you, remain in Him.

The oil does not dry. Remain in Him.

He never leaves nor forsakes us. We just lose sight of Him when we get distracted by the things of the world and the busyness of life. When we become intentional and consistent in our communion with Him we begin to walk more confidently and freely in His anointing. Proximity is key to an anointed life, to be sure we can’t get closer than we already are (our lives are hidden in Him), but through spending time with Him and communing with Him we become more conscious of our union with Him.
